Eyebrow Waxing at Home

Posted by Admin On August - 28 - 2009

One of the more difficult aspects of waxing for home use is the eyebrows.  While legs, arms and bikini area are relatively easy to accomplish at home, eyebrows can be a bit more challenging.  The reason for this is that the eyebrows are a very distinguishing feature of the face.  It takes some finesse to shape them correctly and make sure they look great.  However, with a little practice and knowledge, you can become an expert of eyebrow hair removal at home.  If you have the correct tools, know how to shape eyebrows correctly and have confidence with your waxing skills, you can make your eyebrows look stunning.

Waxing eyebrows will look a lot better if you do not have naturally perfect eyebrows.  People with naturally gorgeous eyebrows are rare indeed.  So, many people will tweeze their eyebrows as the solution.  However, in order to maintain the beauty of the brow, tweezing has to be done frequently and it is often time consuming and difficult.  With waxing, though, you can wait a longer period of time between applications and the eyebrows will have a more dramatic, cleaner look to them that you can not attain with mere tweezing.

The time between applications is a great benefit to people who wax their eyebrows.  Another advantage to using waxing at home as hair removal for the eyebrows is the savings involved.  In today’s economy, it is important to save money whenever possible and often beauty is one of the first sacrifices.  People tend to stop going to the salon as often in order to save money.  With each eyebrow hair removal service costing as much as $20.00 per application, over a year this can get pretty expensive.  But, with waxing at home, you can maintain your beauty regimen and save money at the same time.  A jar of wax will last a very long time and will take a $20.00 per application charge to just a few cents per application for a significant savings. Razors

Razors are cheap and many women say they give a closer shave than an electric razor. The cons are they can nick or cut the skin, and lathering up every time you want to shave can be annoying. If you do decide to use a razor as a pubic hair shaver make sure it’s a good one. Choose a female razor and go for best quality rather than lowest price. Throwaway razors are not much good for bikini line hair removal and they are more likely to cause razor burns and soreness while you’re shaving and ingrown hairs later on.

Electric shavers

Electric shavers for women have been around since the late 1940s, although some of the early models were basically just men’s shavers but pink. Today female shavers are much more common and it’s possible to buy shavers designed specifically for bikini line hair removal. Other shavers come with separate shaving foils for pubic shaving. Pubic shavers with hypoallergenic foils, skin coolers, and built-in trimmers are also available. Read the rest of this entry »

Possible Side Effects of Waxing

Posted by Admin On August - 26 - 2009

Waxing as a method of hair removal has many benefits.  The most common benefit is the fact that it lasts for several weeks.  In comparison to other hair removal methods, this is much longer.  Shaving only lasts a day or two and depilatory creams may last a week.  However, with waxing it can last two to six weeks.  Waxing is also an inexpensive endeavor, especially if it is done at home as opposed to a professional salon.  However, there are some possible side effects to waxing that can be uncomfortable and unsightly.  Before waxing you should be aware of what the side effects may be.  Luckily, though, each one has an easy solution to minimize or eliminate them.

Pain is an obvious result of waxing.  The hair is being forcibly removed by the root.  This can be very painful for some, especially the first time when the hair is at its thickest and coarsest.  However, keep in mind that with continued waxing the hair becomes softer and finer.  Also, the hair follicle becomes damaged after time so the hair is easier to pull out.  The hair will also take longer to grow back.  This will help reduce any pain that is accompanied by waxing as hair removal during subsequent sessions.

Immediately following the waxing, some people will see red bumps or redness in the area.  This usually will go away within a few hours or days at the latest.  However, those with particularly sensitive skin may take longer to heal.  These side effects can be reduced though with a few easy to use remedies.  First, make sure you avoid tight clothing, chafing or rubbing the skin that was waxed for forty eight hours after the waxing.
